Dog watching…

After returning from The Netherlands where we had a relaxing time, Anders went back to work and I, well I offered to take care of first Rex, a little Chihuahua. Rex was very easy to have around, and a great walker as well. I couldn’t believe it when my friend Flor told me but it surely was right. Due to his long flexible leach I could walk in a tempo of 6.5 km/hour and he would run up and down with me for almost an hour. Upon return, coat of (washable) cleaning his small paws and I was done! Before Rex was picked up, Jax, Vincent’s and Jenna’s dog came on the 13th for a longer stay. The young couple visited Valerie, and then flew to Willemstad for their vacation on CuraƧao. It took about a day to have the dogs being friends so I could walk them at the same time. Thank goodness! For walking double as much as I’ve been doing the past three weeks would have filled my days completely!
Well if you all wondered what I’ve been doing during the days I can tell you they were filled with caring for Jax. In the morning Anders walked him for 20 – 30 minutes, cleaned him up and brought him back to me who stayed in bed for a bit more sleep…. After I rose, I did the things needed in the household. Both Jax and I had breakfast and around 11.15 pm I went out with him. Got dressed for the cold and chilly walk, had hotdogs for the dog and off we went. Jax is a young, healthy and strong dog with a lot of energy so I had him run after his ball for over half an hour. After he got rid of most of his energy I trained him to walk nicely beside me. Not so easy but it’s going quite okay now. Calling him back is working very well and of cause he’s treated! Works every time! When we returned home he got a shower was dried and putted to rest. Time for lunch and some administrative work I even had some time for searching the net for a job and I applied when I found the work attractive. Than the walking routine started again now the 4 o’clock one! When I returned from that exercise I started with dinner and after dinner I cleaned up and Anders went for a shorter walk which he repeated before we went to bed. Is Jax fun to have around? Sure! But to be honest I’m cured to wanting a dog, for it’s too much time consuming, so I definitely will wait for many years.
This Saturday Jax will be picked up and I’ll have my freedom back and I do not have to be out in the cold. That is when I don’t want to….

Tiny Rex loved being in our lap and loved walking .......

Cousy morning moment!
He just loves the snow, running, diigging and receiving treats!
Cute Jax loved running after his ball, see for yourselves :)

Time for a shower!
This is definitely not his favorite occupation

Quite some time passes while taking care of an energetic young dog!
Drying up, taking a rest and time for me ;)

New Year and Christmas celebration!

First of all I would like to wish you all the very, very best for 2014!

At my parents!

Boomer is feeling relaxed for the New Year to come but wasn't so happy for all the fireworks when it was Midnight! To hear all the fireworks 28 times louder than we can't be so funny!

Fabulous meals and fun conversations!

Not really winter weather.....

When one year comes to an end it always, at least for me, makes me reflect about the year that past by and fills me with hope and expectations about the year to come.

We had an exciting year but also some very harsh tidings and during the last year of this year I couldn’t help thinking about last years when a friend of us and his wife passed by at our house on the US base in Seoul.  This year she’s no longer with us so her husband and children must have had a hard time celebrating. But I’m also filled with happiness for our children are doing great. Valerie and Claes are enjoying the fact of being parents to Ellinor and Vincent and Jenna are enjoying their puppy Jax. My parents are doing great and so are my brothers, their families and most of our friends. Actually what more can one wish for.

We celebrated this changing of the year in The Netherlands with my parents and had a great time, recalling old memories and talking about our adventures in Korea. We even stayed for some days with Valerie , Claes and Ellinor.

Christmas we celebrated with Vincent, Jenna and Jax! All of them contributed again to my tradition, since fifteen years back, to write a Christmas poem for every person present. This isn’t really appreciated just before Christmas but even more when the moment has come to read them. And honestly its fun and touching for it has nothing to do with the present to be given but about what has been and what will hopefully come…..

Well I hope you all had wonderful days with near and dear ones and are now looking forward to having a great New Year!

Love Anja
